So I’m going to the island.

For three days (or so) on a spontaneous hitch trip to Tofino.
I’ve only been once, and it was half a day, and I was super hung over.
So I don’t really know the way, I have butterflies in my tummy and I have to be up in two hours. XD

Though I’m all packed and excited to go, it’s funny, I’m refusing to check facebook until I come back, and it’s kind of driving me mad. Oh well I’ll enjoy the surprise.

I have to laugh though, I called my aunt, because she knows I do this (so does everyone else, but she seemed the most okay with it as a family member). We exchanged pleasantries and then I told her I was leaving early tomorrow morning.
She paused. Said nothing. And then started laughing hysterically. Then she paused again and said “Oh that’s fine dear. I know you’ll take public transit the whole way. Gosh public transit. That’s about five hours of your life. Why on earth would you want to do that? You should just stay in Vancouver.”

To which it was my turn to be silent. I knew, that she knew what I was doing but it kind of threw me off, though me being me, and wanting to quickly smooth things over clarified that I’d take transit to the ferry, and then go from there. She was silent for 5 minutes. Now this woman (and I love her) is a chatty kathy. She couldn’t shut up if her life depended on it. Unless she was walking a labyrinth.

Anyways, when she finally piped up again, it was something like, “Yeah. So you’re taking transit to Tofino. Well get home safe!!” And the she went on about how I had to get a calling card and email her every day (Jeeze louise, living in the same town as any of my family is weird. She’s so hyperly over protective, and subtly controlling. I told her she wasn’t going to hear from me until the day I got back… but whatever. XD) I understand her worries, but I’ll technically be only three hours away, and I’ll be careful.

*Sigh* When you’re super excited about something and then someone gets all weird about it is always frustrating, but whatever. I’m still stoked to go. I’VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG. And this may curb my wanderlust enough to get through finals so that I can grad.

Anyway I’m going to do some reading on digihitch just to brush up before bed.
Much love,
Kleo
